Happy world sleep day!

Hope you’ve had a good week and looking forward to some good shut eye this evening!

How are you with sleeping? I must admit, I am not the best sleeper. I never sleep properly when I go away, regardless of whether I am camping or have the luxury of being in a fancy hotel! There is something about being somewhere different I am sensitive to sounds, temperatures and anything else around me! Usually by the second night I am ok.

But since having children I find it is quite a luxury to have a full nights sleep, but when you do you feel amazing in the morning!

However what does sometimes happen is a little bit unusual, I'll drop off to sleep and then if I wake up it may be around 3am (known as the witching hour by some experts!). I then may start sneezing or need to blow my nose, a little bit like an allergic reaction!

Anyone else have this? Straight to sleep and then wake up and start sneezing like an allergic reaction in the night??! Or just me?! Anyway a piriton usually sorts it out, and it is generally stress related!

So now these are my top tips for a good nights sleep:

1) Walk in daylight during the daytime to increase vitamin D and lower melatonin in the daytime.

2) No coffee after 2pm (I do have tea, but only one cup later in the day).

3) Avoid alcohol - i rarely drink these days, if I do a sure fire sneezing fit will be coming on

4) Gentle yoga, breathing or journaling before bed - write a list for the next day.

5) Buy an alarm clock and leave phone downstairs!
