BTS class planning...

Have you ever sat on your Yoga mat thinking about the amount of class planning that goes into each Yoga class? Much of it is based in building on the week before and the customers in front of me. As well as how the class is advertised, and then recognising the history and legacy of Yoga and how it sits with us in the western world in 2026.

These are the reasons each Yoga class is slightly different from teacher to teacher as although the content may be similar, each teacher has learnt from different teachers and interpreted the information and legacy slightly differently. However there will also be similarities in breath work, salutations, key poses and movement safety around the mat.

My classes this week are built around earth and the Buddhist Goddess Tara. The Tara poses represent the god Tara - Buddhist god for compassion.

Tara is considered the protector and symbolises compassion and peace. “Tonglen” from the Buddhist tradition is a tool for compassion and relieving suffering of others.

Today it seems the world is surrounding us with devastating and uncontrollable events.

But here’s the thing…

By coming together in communities such as yoga classes, activities, friendships, whichever groups we collectively share we then share our individual burdens. By being together, healing both in the wider and personal sense occurs.

What do you do to practice compassion? Let me know below…

So alongside being in the poses that are built into the classes are the deep history and legacy of previous peopl's work and theory. This pose can be taken as a deep hip opener, focusing on breath work and positioning. But you are also recognising a Goddess of compassion and understanding and also bringing this into your day to day life, which can only be a good thing?

If you would like to know more about the poses and breathwork, please do book onto one of my future workshops where we have time to look at the poses and again understand more about the legacy of the poses and enjoy the physical health and movement.

Next Womens health Retreat: 26th April at BeWell Barn, Nr Eye, Suffolk.
