What are the benefits of Yoga for teens and tweens?

Life can be challenging at times for everyone. Yoga provides a toolbox of techniques and skills that are accessible in times of need, learning how to relax is a skill that can be drawn on as and when required. Learning to breath correctly and deeply can reduce stress and anxiety.

By discovering a vast array of techniques and postures in the safe environment and non-competitive environment of a yoga class, young people can discover and explore exercise that can really benefit as you progress and develop through life.

For some adults it becomes second nature to perform a few yoga techniques to help clear the mind, ease achy muscles, aid sleep or to relieve all sorts of minor nonclinical conditions. The younger generation are no different, the techniques they learn through yoga can be accessed forever.

There are some age groups and/or individuals that might find the pressure of education, social media or peers or big changes. Yoga provides a safe, nurturing practise and can act as the perfect antidote for the fast-moving world that many find themselves amidst. Yoga encourages a deep connection with the self. By taking time to experience and explore this bond, many yoga practitioners tune into their needs and requirements. For some this is reflected through making healthier lifestyle choices, finding emotional balance, knowing when to relax and how to experience times of inner peace.

Of course, this will vary immensely from person to person. However, what yoga does provide for everyone is a safe nurturing practice in a non-judgmental environment. This is so beneficial during challenging and changing times, and therefore learning the skills involved in yoga can be super beneficial.

Yoga is also shown to be beneficial for people who train regularly in sport and exercise. Allowing the muscles to really stretch through at a slower pace, allowing recovery and growth to occur in a non-impact manner.
