You may have heard of Yin Yoga perhaps, but maybe not sure how it will benefit you? Let me try and explain the benefits and why you should allow more Yin into your life!
Yin style yoga, is a slow form of yoga which involves deep breathing and holding familiar postures for longer periods of time. It will compliment other stronger or flowing yoga practices as well as many other physical activities. It also provides the perfect opportunity to balance a busy or hectic lifestyle as it induces deep relaxation and due to the focus on deep breathing will help reset a stressed or busy nervous system.
By taking the time to engage in a regular Yin style yoga practise you may notice many extra benefits. These include improved posture, increased energy flow, balanced stress levels, enhanced sleep patterns and increased feelings of health and vitality.
Overall the benefits of encouraging yourself to really slow down into the practice and enjoy a deep, focused relaxation will have indefinite benefits that you can take into other parts of your life and lifestyle.
I myself am someone who has gone from enjoying running, playing netball, a fast paced family and work life. But by encouraging my body and mind to focus on the slower and deeper relaxation and breathwork has really helped me to slow down and prioritise where I put my time and energy.

If you are looking for a chance to slow down your breathing whilst you are reading this, a great one to try is to take a breath in for a count of 4, hold the breath and slow your focus for 2/3 counts and then breathe out for longer than 5. You can adjust the counts as you improve your breath focus, just trying to make the out breath longer than the in breath.
